In 2009, Joseph Borkowski founded Rasia Group, which is now comprised of several independent principal investment, investment management, and investment advisory companies in the United Arab Emirates and Cayman Islands focused primarily on natural resources and related infrastructure.

Rasia Group specializes in both direct investments and consortium investments for projects of national strategic importance in which Rasia Group takes the lead investment risk. Rasia Group currently has several investments in mining and transport projects in Mongolia, Australia, Indonesia and Armenia.

Rasia is a Cayman Islands registered and CIMA regulated hedge fund formed by Mr. Borkowski in 2017 to pursue liquid and semiliquid investments in distressed or special situations. Mr. Borkowski is a former New York investment banker and convertibles trader, and a graduate of Columbia Business School and Tufts University.
